This former Carnegie Library closed down several years ago and remained at risk of falling into dereliction. By converting the building sympathetically and adding a five storey extension to the rear, enabled the site to be commercially viable. The nature of the new additions is very contemporary and has a series of ‘floating’ balcony terraces with sliding glass façade. This offers a more lightweight appearance to the building and helps make it clearly discernible.
