This proposal was part of a three phase development and benefitted from a courtyard setting. The design had to be cost effective, distinctive and deliverable within a 10 month delivery period. The proposal already had planning consent but it was for a very beneign design which was entirely detached from Phase I. We redesigned the scheme to create a more contemporary building and also increased apartment numbers by attaching the stair core to the neighbouring mill building. This achieved a strong brand image for the operators, increased viability and created a more harmonious student community.
